Lander Blue is an iconic mine and the most expensive turquoise. The story of Lander Blue is told in Turquoise in America Part Two, 1910-1990.
This cabochon came from a squash blossom necklace authenticated by Bob Brucia, the owner of the Lander Blue claim. It weighs 3.8 carats and is 1.2cm in diameter. It is priced at $300 per carat or $1140. Lander Blue of this grade and provenance is not often available in the marketplace at this price. I have assigned a TG of 93 or GG (Gem Grade). This stone has not been treated and is lightly backed. It shows evidence of the surface treatment that is characteristic of much of Lander Blue.
