Candelaria is a well-known turquoise from Nevada. The story of Candelaria may be found in Turquoise in America Part Two 1910-1990.
I bought this rough from Bob Brucia and cut the stone myself. It weighs 6.2 carats and is 1.3 cm in diameter cut in a high dome. It is priced at $80 a carat or $496. It has not been treated and is lightly backed. I have assigned a TG of 91.25 or Gem Grade GG. Red web Candelaria of this grade is very rare in the marketplace. It shows the characteristic deep blue floating over a reddish-brown matrix. The high dome would make a beautiful lady’s ring set in 18 karat gold.
