Famous Turquoise Mines. Morenci.

About 150 miles north of Bisbee is Morenci. Phelps Dodge mined copper here and turquoise was plentiful. Although similar in color to Bisbee Morenci has its own distinct blue and the presence of pyrite is a discerning feature. Bill Brown had the concession at Morenci for over thirty years and Morenci turquoise is found in much Indian jewelry, including the Wes Willie bolo Mike is wearing in the video.
