Traditionally blue has been the favored color for turquoise. Historically this was the non matrix sky blue long associated with Persian turquoise. With the development of the southwest tourist market and the demand for Native American jewelry fine blue turquoise with matrix grew in popularity. Beginning in the late eighties and into the nineties green turquoise, long overlooked, began to become popular and today green is the favored color for many turquoise lovers.
