Rarest of the Rare

In this video Mike shows what he considers to be the most rare turquoise. Many people never have the opportunity to see the highest grade of turquoise because the market is dominated by low grade chalk turquoise that is hardened and stabilized for deeper color through the injection of plastic polymers or the growing of silica crystals within the stone to enhance the color and hardness. Only 5% of all turquoise is considered high grade natural with gem grade consisting for as little as 0.1%. With this degree of rarity there is little true gem grade ever available in the market with the price a hundred times or more than treated turquoise.
