Chinese turquoise was among the earliest mined. The story of the introduction of Chinese turquoise to the US market is told in Turquoise in America Part Two 1910-1990 in Chapter Five “First Contact”.
These are a six-cab cluster setting weighing 23 carats. Each cab measures about 1cm in diameter X 5mm. They are priced at $20 a carat or $$460. They are not treated and all but one is backed. I have assigned a TG of 82 HG. These would make a beautiful cluster, single rings or as pairs in earrings. I bought the rough from Rob Staap who bought in the mid-nineties. I cut the stones. White spot is camera flash.
