Chinese Yungai Temple 3.9 carat HG

The Yungai Temple mine located in Hubei Province, China is an old turquoise mine featured in the story told in Chapter Five, First Contact, of Turquoise in America Part Two, 1910-1990.

This cabochon weighs 3.9 carat and measures 1cm X 0.75cm. It is priced at $35 a carat or $137. Comparable grade of dark web from the well-known American mines will sell between $50-$70 a carat making Chinese turquoise a relative bargain.  It is not treated and is backed. I have assigned a TG of 85 or HG. I cut this stone from rough I purchased from Rob Stapp. White spot is camera flash.
